voices outta the past...

I thought this was funny a few years ago when I got it in the mail.....kinda looked like a "WANTED" notice! (not my address anymore)

Lemme just ask a stupid question...if all of a sudden, a bunch of people from your past contacted you in a weekend, would you think, I never thought I'd EVER hear from them again...maybe this is a sign I'm gonna die.......

Thursday I got a call from my very first friend's mom...like I was about 3 or 4...they lived down the street & around the corner. My two big brothers were friends with all 5 of her brothers after we moved to town...yeah...there were 8 kids, and I remember the mom walking past our house every morning about 7 am, headed to mass. I remember my mom saying something about if she had 8 kids, she'd go to church every day too! Now all the 'kids' are scattered all over the world, a few are still in town, one lives out in Scottsdale, so Bro hangs with him & his family when he's out there, some live in Florida, One brother lives in Amsterdam, for heaven's sake! There was always something exciting going on at Chris's house, with all those big brothers & sisters! One time one of the brothers brought home a raccoon, & they named it 'Reefer the raccoon'...us 5 year olds had no clue what that meant...:-/

Friday night I got another email from Kevin 1, from 30 years ago...still haven't hooked up again, but, it'll happen...

Saturday night, I got a FB message from somebody I used to be terrific friends with 27 yrs ago...I remember that cuz she's my first husband's little sister! I im'd my phn number & she called me & we talked for about an hour & a half! She & her husband live in N C now, but they're moving to Wyoming next week! I've missed her!!

Sunday night, I got another FB message from a guy that used to hang out with "our gang" in Fostoria. He was always one of the nicest guys I knew...and that's not a bad thing...nice guys don't always finish last...only if they're passive & timid! One time we were all at a bar about 50 miles from my town, and 'Bart' got so plastered, I wouldn't let him drive home to his house (30 mi away from the bar), so I loaded him in my car with me & brought him home with me (Tif was at Gramma's for the night). When we both woke up Sunday morning, we got in my car & went back up north to the bar we had left his car at...that was some fun times! Now he's married and has 6, count em, 6 kids!!! I couldn't help it, I had to rag him about all the kids...(no sleep, huh?) He said, I was just doing it for fun...and she took it serious!!! No, they're very happy, married for 21 years, etc! He's gonna make Mousie come down here soon, he said.

April 8th...

How weird is this...I just realized that I was married the first time on this day in 1983....damn, forever ago! Shit, I was just a baby having a baby! Not like I'dve ever admitted it at the time, of course. The biggest thing about this is that I was a senior in high school, and after this, if I didn't want to go to school, I could just call the office myself, Mom didn't have to give 'permission' anymore! lol!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Okay...now it's Friday....I have surgery Monday to remove my thyroid...yippee?? And, I need to get my stuff packed...Tif & Kev are going to take turns coming here & feeding Truman, giving him his ice water, and cleaning his litter box. (yes, I did say 'his ice water'...I don't want my baby to have to drink stale water!) I called Blue Cross/Blue Shield yesterday just to make sure my Cobra coverage is started, it is. I was just being paranoid, cuz I could just see me laying on the surgery table, and them stopping..."Wait. Does she have insurance??" *snicker* This health care bill is already tossing people every which way. The guy I talked to at Blue Cross yesterday said he's already had a ton of people call him already and ask him "Are you the one I call to get my free Obama-care??" And he had to tell them no...Those people obviously don't know that they're already paying for it...& they'll be paying for it for a few years before they get it! Yes, there are good things in this...but I promise, if you read the bill, you'll find much more bad...
Easter was fun! Tif & Mr Tif brought the baby over right after church that morning, & Bro & his wife took me out Saturday to the Dollar Store...I got Talan a cute little shirt that has a picture of an i-pod on it & says "I peed" Bro came back over & picked me up at 4 to go out to his house for Easter dinner...his youngest daughter called from where she's living (Phoenix) she's in college at Arizona, and she said "Dad! I just felt an eartquake!!!" Crazy, huh?
more old fun stuff...
I love this time of year...the snow is gone (leaving mud in its place, of course) and it's supposed to be in the mid to high 70's the rest of the week!! I transferred up to Fostoria in April 1986, and that was the coolest morning drive to make! I'd go about 8 blocks west farther into town, & drop Tif off at her babysitter's...then go east out to US 23, and go north for an hour, and that was all it took to get to work! I remember the sun was always on my right side...and I never was around any city traffic...we didn't have any here, & there was even less in the towns/cities to the north, unless you were going to Cleveland or Toledo! I always kept my doors locked while I was still in town, even though it's not a bad town, but, once I got out on the highway, I unlocked both doors (it was a Honda Civic)...maybe that was a stupid thought, but, I was always thinking if I wrecked and hit my head and needed help, I wanted someone to be able to open the doors...
This was also the start of the "festival season" in northern Ohio...well, probably everywhere else too. The first one I remember going to was St Wendelin's church festival. That was fun! You (or, we!) bought beer in a plastic bucket, & got a bunch of flimsy plastic cups! Now that was a good time!! The one festival I never got to was the "Testicle Festival"! Not sure what town that's in, but I know it's in northern Ohio. And they have beer & deep fried hog nuts!! Hmmmmmmmmm...maybe THAT'S why I never felt drawn there to party. Just as well...knowing how I used to do anything when someone said "I dare you...", I might've ended up doing the unthinkable... :-(
Well, risking a bunch of resounding 'boo's' here because none of you reading this have much in common with me when it comes to some of my tastes...(that's ok...at least it's not hog balls!)....I got 2 books today I ordered a few days ago. Dick Morris & Mike Huckabee, and they're both signed & in good leather boxes, & have certificates! I'm happy!
So, since it's gonna be beautiful into the weekend, I'm gonna do the same thing I did last year at this time, go down to the Dollar Store and get stuff to make Easter baskets for Tif & Mr Tif, and the baby, and their 2 dogs!
...let the buyer beware...
I got my hair cut today, I told H to make it really short so it won't get bushy when I'm in the hospital after my thyroid operation (which, btw, is 4-12-10!). Her youngest daughter is graduating next year, so H is letting her and some friends drive to Florida on spring break to stay at "uncle Jeff's", & H said she has to keep telling her brother, remember, you aren't the fun uncle on this trip, you're the PARENT! hahahaha...good luck with that one!
And Tif & Talan are coming over tomorrow. That's gonna be fun...besides getting to cuddle him, Tif's giving me a Mary Kay facial! whoo hoo!!...(I'm a mom, remember? Starting when she was 5 or 6, I was the guinea pig for everything she wanted to do...Now, I'm reaping the rewards!). I kinda wish that I was into wearing nail polish & everything, but I'm not...went through that stage as a senior in high school, then got pregnant & married (& graduated, of course!), and my life got too busy to worry about breaking a nail or chipping nail polish! Plus, long nails & nailpolish didn't work when I had the jobs when I unloaded trucks 6 days a week all through my 20s...Now, with my shaky ms hands, it's not even a consideration!
I'm getting all caught up in some tv lately *hiding my head in shame*...now it's "Hoarders" on A&E *snicker*...nothing will keep you motivated if THAT doesn't! And I LOVE "Pawn Stars" & "American Pickers" on the history channel, along with Ax Men & the regular history stuff. A&E has a cool show about Billy the Exterminator, & I used to watch Parking Wars when that was on. But, keep in mind, I ALWAYS have a book beside me for the commercials! Alright, I gotta go...
...random funny stuff...
I really need to quit thinking today...no good ever comes from that, right? lol! My insomnia has been SO bad this week, I can't stand it! I'm going to bed at 1 am, and tossing & turning until I fall asleep...at f*ng 6:30 or 7 am!! I did give up & turn the tv on last night at 3 am...my favorite movie was on..."Phonebooth"! I used to be able to take a 25 mg Benadryl if I had a hard time falling asleep (which wasn't very often), but not now, even 2 25mgs won't work. Bullshit!
I was thinking about when Tif was in school, it really was fun...she was a cheerleader, & ran cross country, & was on the school's soccer team, and all kinds of other stuff! And she was the most popular kid I ever knew! And she liked me! lol! I was definitely NOT one of the popular crowd in high school! How did I get so lucky as to have THIS girl?
So, when she and her friends were getting their senior pictures taken, one of the girls was bitching about her hair, always! I don't know why, she had naturally curly dark hair, and if she ever let it be curly, it looked really beautiful, it was the kind of curls you can only hope to get when you get a perm, and her hair was down to the middle of her back. She flat-ironed it every day, cuz she wanted it straight so bad...wow, that had to take a couple hrs a day to do! So she was telling us all about how she ALWAYS wanted straight blonde hair. She had begged and begged her mom to get her Johnson's baby shampoo. So when she finally got a bottle, she had her mom use that on her, of course Moms always will humor their daughters.
After she got her hair towel-dried, Brit looked in the mirror & started bawling her eyes out...she thought that shampoo would've made her hair look just like the little girl's on the bottle, straight & blonde!! That was funny as hell! Not to the two of them at the time, though, I'm sure...
Then there was the time when Tif was in maybe the 2nd or 3rd grade, she and her friend across the street were walking home from school, & were arguing about something, & Tif whapped her friend in the stomach with her bookbag. Then Tif got home & she was crying about the fight. She got all the sympathy in the world...until Kev asked her about the way it ended & we found out that we hadn't known about the whap in the stomach with the bookbag!
And the time she had a friend stay overnight, and they found a way to have fun on the stairs...we were downstairs watching tv, and all of a sudden it sounded like a herd of rhinos! I got up & went around the corner to the bottom of the stairs, & Tif & her friend were sitting in laundry baskets, sliding down the stairs from the second floor to the first, banging to a sudden stop against the wall at the bottom of the stairs!
Wahh-hooo!!
Well, I went back to see my gp (Dr A) this morning, and I didn't have a heart attack! Cuz in the last 2 or 3 days, I've had a stress test, an echocardiagram, etc! But today, he was all smiley, and told me my stress test was great, & so was my echo...I said, well, what the hell was all that crap that had me scared half to death?? All he could think of was maybe Phyllis didn't put the leads in the right places...whatever....I still like Phyllis...
That pic up there at the top is Bro with Talan, and I'm at the bottom with him! I had everybody in my house the other day, so we NEEDED pictures!! And the other one is Truman...in his dreams!
So, anyway, I got back on my once-a-week avonex ms shots today. Thats what I was on for the first 13 yrs I had ms, then I stupidly got off of it & tried 3 other different things. I'm glad I did, cuz now I know what works for me & what doesnt! pheeeww...having ms is a f*n fulltime job!
Now I'm going to bed...they're scheduling my thyroid surgery tomorrow...
..if it weren't for bad luck...
Well, so, Monday & Tuesday were my checkups with my ms dr (Monday) for surgery clearance, & my gp for the same thing Tuesday. Mon was fine...Tues my gp's assistant was giving me an ekg on my heart...she took the paper that printed out & went to the next room to show Dr A...he came hurrying back in and asked if I'd had any chest pain, and I said no...he asked if I was sure (no, I was lying...&*sarcasm*), then said "You've had a heart attack in the past, it looks like." Dear God, what else???
That brought me to the hospital yesterday for an *all day* resting stress test. Logically, now that I think about it...you go to the dr just for a once-over, and he tells you 'You've had a heart attack.', nope, no stress here...c'mon!
All of this stems from the one time Dr P did an mri on my c-spine too, just to check & make sure I had no ms scars on my spine...then she finds a node on my thyroid...then I get told I need a needle biopsy on it...it's 'indeterminate', so I need surgery...b4 surgery, I need checked...they find something else, & think I've had a frikkin heart attack in the past...just what the hell is up here?? Man! I'm the healthiest sick person I know...or the sickest healthy person.....
I really hate this part of my life, I really do.
I'm done for tonight....
slinks away, muttering... Libby...
time to laugh!
O-kay...I'm really sick of having to be serious! The movie "Shallow Hal" comes on at 4:00, and, even though I have the dvd, I'm watching it! That's about one of the funniest movies I've ever seen! Of course, I lmao'd at 'Weekend At Bernie's' 1 and 2, so...
I was on the phone with Kim last night, and she told me what she had done to her youngest boy a few years ago, when she & her kids went to Florida with her mom & dad (she's as good at the great American sport called "embarrassing your kids" as I am!). He was about 12 or 13, and they were at a motel. She & Boy2 were on the way to the pool, and he went around a corner in the motel, and said he had to go to the bathroom. There was a door to the bathroom, and he went in and locked it. Kim had her video camera, and was just wandering around filming this and that...then she went back to the bathroom door with the cam on, and started jiggling the doorknob "click-click-click-click". She said she heard him say in a low voice "There's somebody in here." She walked around for a minute, and went back to the door "Click-click-click-click-click-click", sounding more frantic. Here's Boy2, a little louder, "There's someone in here!" ...Kim takes one more circle around the lobby, then back to the door.."Click-click-click-click-click-click-click!", with an additional rap at the door. "There's someone in here!!" She said the camera got all shaky at this point, cuz she was laughing SO hard, but holding it in so he wouldn't hear her distinctive hyena-laugh! That's when he actually opened the door, & she zoomed in on his face. I can't wait to see this video! She's under orders to dig it out, I HAVE to see this!!
So you see...THIS is what I was lucky enough to immediately 'click' with in 8th grade & become inseparable with!
I went to bed last night with a bag of powdered donuts & a box of Cheez-its, & a can of Coke...*heavenly*! And I stupidly kept the tv on in there, so I had to keep watching 'Numb3rs' (I LOVE that show!)...maybe it's because of this....Charlie Eppes has it all on the outside, and, on the show, he knows physics, and that's...well puts his character at the top of the food chain. Or then there's this ...
Just in case anyone wonders...no, I'm not desperate for a guy...I prefer to be on my own at the moment! I'm doing exactly what guys do, ya know...appreciate something or someone that looks good!
okay, i met the surgeon today...
Okay, now I know more of what's happening...I met the surgeon today. He wants to take my damn thyroid (Helene asked 'why? doesn't he have one if his own?'...she's good, wish I'dve thought to ask him!).Anyway, I was saying 'all of it??', and he explained that they don't know exactly what this "node" is, so, to avoid a future operation, he wants it all out now. Which is the best way, I guess...I'll be damned if I want him to slit my neck twice...he IS hot, but I gotta draw the line somewhere. So I hafta see my ms dr Monday, & my regular dr Tuesday, then he'll talk to them & set a date for surgery :-/ .
I'm thinking that I might ask Joe to go out for some beer before the surgery...that was not a mistake, yes, I did say some beer, not a beer. :-)
Anyway, the insurance is figured out, I'm keeping what I have through Kev's old job with cobra. Expensive, but cheaper than paying for all the hospital & surgery bills myself. And the drug company that makes my expensive ms once-a-week shot called yesterday & they'll work with me. Yeah, it has been a busy few days, why do you ask
Okay, done~! BoUnCeS!! LibbY!
OMG!! I see sun!!
...cuz it's finally sunny!!
I had to ask the guy across the street to come over & shovel off my ramp out back...hopefully for the last time this year!!
I had to just get a new template, because my personal hot programmer suggested that would be the best way to take care of it...soooo...
:-) sj!
I need to hurry, I have an appointment to meet a surgeon, for God's sake! Because my endocrinologist called last Monday morning (her, not her assistant) & said that my needle biopsy came back 'inconclusive'. I said, that means you don't know anything? And she said no...but I recommend surgery. Oh, holy crap, of course you would! Isn't that my luck in the last few years?? Grrrrrrrrrrrr!! And, of course...there's always that little fact about insurance...but...Kevin mentioned cobra (he's not getting it)...and I called the VZ benefits, and I can get it for myself, so I am, and probably at a reduced rate cuz my only income is SS disability! Yeah, it's way expensive, but surgery and the hospital stay would be a whole helluva lot more! So, I may write again later after I find out what he says...
...snow again,,,this shit is goign to drive Ohio & a lot of other states CRAZY...road rage? please...snow rage...
Tif brought Talan over yesterday! They were here all day, cuz Tif's nnot going back to being a hairstylist full time & she's only gonna do the dr's office on Saturdays. Good for her!! Look at Talan...he wants his Mommy! (& she wants him too!...can you blame either one??)
She's still selling Mary Kay, & she's gonna clean houses for people...I'll pay her for that! & I always get Mary Kay stuff! She cleaned here so well yesterday, even did about 5 loads of laundry! It's damn near sterile in here now! hahahaha!
Talan's hair is the same color as mine..reddish blonde!
So, yeah, I've actually been busy lately, attorneys, attorneys, attorneys...ergo, yadayadaya...
There's about 6 inches of snow on the ground now bleeeeaaaaaah! I am SO done with winter!!!
So, I don't have insurance after March 10. But whatever, I'm figuring all this out as it goes along...the great news is that I still feel really good, since I quit taking tysabri! And, actually, I got a needle biopsy Tuesday. I hurried up & got it ASAP when I found out Kev's job was gonna be gone at the end if the month. The needle biopsy really isn't quite as painful as it sounds. I think a lot of it is if you really like your dr., & trust her to stick a needle in your throat! I'll find out the results in a few days.
Bro's company does have a website. Which is good, if you need a business remodeled...http://stevensconstruction.net/
We were on the phone today, and he has as much attitude as ME at treasury secretary, "Timmy" Geithner. I guess what brought the subject up was me talking about doing my taxes, get it? I'm basically at the point "As soon as I see the secretary of the treasury do HIS taxes, I'll file mine..."
:-/
Haloscan quit its comments, so I spent all day today figuring out all kinda stuff in html..I still can't get rid of the bunch of numbers at the bottom...help?
740th post...
Wow, that's a whole helluva lot more than I knew!!
I feel lots better now...not "normal", but a whole helluva lot stronger...I can stand up from sitting without having to pull myself up by using the closest desk or counter, or table, or whatever! & my hands are strong again, I can cut my own nails again, for heaven's sake! You have no idea how crippled I felt two weeks ago...I can even straighten out my little finger on my right hand again, the one that my neuro thought I had nerve damage in my elbow! And...I have "goiter news" now! I went to the newest doctor in town, an endocrinologist, and she's really nice...she was with me talking for about 45 minutes and then she felt my throat, and she actually said she could feel the thing (I sure can't, & thank God I can't see it, either!) But, at that appt, she looked over the x-rays that I had with the radioactive stuff in me, and said it didn't look bad, not cancerous or anything, but give her some time to go over them in detail, & she'd get back to me to let me know if I needed a needle biopsy...well, I got a letter in the mail from her assistant today (she's super-nice, too!) that said she found nothing to worry about, just get back to her for a checkup on it in about 4 to 6 weeks! Wahh-hoo! I'm just so damn lucky, all the people I meet are always really nice, and I always have to wonder why everybody says people are awful...huh.
Even my dissolution lawyer...I've been told by Kevin 1, and another good friend from 9th grade that they each HATE him! Go figure...I like him...we get along good, he even goes to the back alley behind his office with me when I leave, so he can talk to me & have a cigarette. He's funny....I asked him once, "does the city realize how much more work you could do if you had an ashtray in youur office??" lol!
No, I haven't got together with Kevin 1 again yet...we both know that we will see each other soon, but both of us have shit-tons of stuff going on...he's been working 7 days a week for awhile, & he has an 8-yr old daughter who lives with him & his wife (that's ok...she knows all about me & he even had a girlfriend who lived with them for a few years...long story...he's lead guitar in a local rock band, you expect that, right? I always aspired to be a groupie, anyway!). This is the best kind of guy to get involved with, though...he won't want any more than I do...do you know what I mean? My goal is to NEVER get seriously involved with anyone again, & the only safe way to do that is be with someone else that wants that just as little as you do!
My friend from 9th grade, she hooked back up with me on FB...I have fun on there, really. But she was here Friday for a few hours, we haven't really been hanging around together for a few years, the last thing we did was go to a Def Leppard concert in Columbus in 1995...I remember telling her "they looked better in the 80's"...she looked at me, & said "didn't we all??" bwahahaha!! Dammit!! I didn't NEED to be reminded of that! She & her first husband hung out with me & my first husband, when I was pregnant with Tif! Now we're both single...she's a prison guard...Someday I'll ghostwrite some of HER stories too!!
I'm back...
Well, I'm back...I've actually been here, but, I had tons of stuff to deal with. Talan is GREAT, everybody! He sleeps all night, and needs to be woken up for his bottle, for heaven's sake! Sheesh! Tiff has the best baby, and a great husband...me, I had a fussy baby that never slept, I was 18, & in a miserable marriage, no $$, really hard labor (26 hours worth)...but I'm really glad her life is this way!! There's nothing better for a mom than to see her daughter have it easier than she did, right? I KNOW all the moms out there will agree with that!!
The reason I haven't been around at all is my f*cking ms, actually. It was getting worse by the minute, and I didn't know what to do...But, I finally put it all together, and decided to quit doing the tysabri, and I want to get back on my avonex once a week shots for ms, because it'd been 6 weeks since I had my last tysabri iv, and I was feeling a LOT better and stronger! Because they wouldn't give it to me at the four week interval, cuz I couldn't even stand up, and when I told the iv nurse that I had fallen 3 times that DAY before I got there, she said no, you need to see your neuro before I give this to you again. So, I did that, & it was pretty much the same...I was set up with another appt to get it again Thursday the 4th, but all of a sudden, I started to realize how much stronger I felt without it! My hands worked, and I could actually walk with my walker! OMG!! That's when I called my iv nurse, & told her take me off the schedule for the foreseeable future, I was SO done with the tysabri! And I still am! It's a great medicine for some people, but I'm not one of them! And, I know this is just a random thihngy on FB, but, wouldn't it speak to you??
On this day, God wants you to know...
... that today you have a cause for celebration. Today, you should celebrate what an unbelievable life you have had so far: the accomplishments, the many blessings, and, yes, even the hardships because they have served to make you stronger. Just as a gem cannot be polished without friction, nor can a life be perfected without trials. Take a time to acknowledge your life and to praise yourself.
Wow...damn..wow! So fitting...
Okay...I'm sitting here watching "Confessions Of A Serial Killer", on MSNBC, about Jeffrey Dahmer. Remember when that story happened? I do. I'll never forget that! I was at work at GTE then.Those were big 'news years' ya know? There was the OJ trial too. & the Laci Peterson story, which I could SEE that Scott Peterson was guilty the first time I looked at him! Am I sick that I can remember all this? And Caylee Anthony, and Haleigh Cummings in Florida...
Okay, I hafta order dinner...macaroni & cheese (their secret ingredient is cottage cheese!) & a big ground steak sandwich with mushrooms! (you can either get 1/4 lb or 1/2 lb!)
fun with facebook...
Decade in review...(thanks, sj!!)....http://www.newlaunches.com/entry_images/1209/31/2000-2010.php
I stole that from sj's facebook page a few weeks ago...and, yes, I did ask permission to use it! See? There is good stuff on FB!
I also spent 2 hours Sunday night 'playing' memory games with the facebook friends I have that went to the same elementary school (K-5!). One of 'our' gang posted one of the 3rd grade pictures of the whole class, with about 25 or 26 kids in it, and about 6 of us from across the country were trying to name them all! And after a couple hours, we had almost all of them! I think I remembered the most last names. Then we started talking about the names of the kids...in our class, there were 5 'Jeffs'! Seriously, do you ever think of that, how different the names are now? Who is naming their boys Jeff anymore? Or girls named Lori (with an O not AU!)? Or Lisa? Or, we had a Mary, Jerri, & Terri, & a Sheri...or Ann...Amy...Arlene...Dan. Geez...well, I have no business saying anything about that...Tiffany isn't exactly a Lisa or Lori...:-/
I finally went to the doctor today about my flu symptoms that I've had for about 3 weeks. I wasn't going to, until Tif pushed me into it yesterday, and I thought about it & realized if I didn't, I might be barred from the delivery room!
~~~~~~~~~~~ oh, hey...congratulations, Scott Brown, new Massachusetts senator!! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~(R)

randoms...

Is anyone else catching the irony of the tv commercial for Viagra that says at the bottom "See our ad in Golf Digest".

I ordered another book from ebay, "Game Change". Next is "Lords of Finance", and the book about Cloward & Piven. I'm too much into the news & politics, and everything...

Still waiting for Mr Talan to make his grand appearance...at first he was in this big fat hurry, now he's settled down, he's a little bit ready, but the last time she thought he was ready, they sent her home, telling her to walk a lot. OMG! My poor baby! I know she's still got about 2 weeks to go, but she's so uncomfortable...acid reflux, which she's never had before! Her friends said to drink milk, but then her doctor said not to, cuz as soon as it hits your stomach it starts to sour....bleeeeaaahhh!

I've told you all about the friends I hooked back up with on FB, from forever ago...a couple of the boys (ok, men, now!) that I used to play with on recess in elementary school (the school that used to be 1/2 block down the street from where I live now!)...well, one used to be a lawyer in Chicago, but he just recently got appointed to be a federal judge...the other does documentary films for, like, the History Channel, TRUTV, etc...he's got pictures on his FB page of a lot of the places he's filmed, like Turkey, and Iraq...etc. Meanwhile, here I still sit...

I am still im-ing & emailing with my boyfriend from 30 years ago...we DO have tons of stuff to catch up on...not only does he have a full-time + job, he also plays guitar in a band And he's still hot...but I haven't gotten together with him...no time yet for either one of us...

I hope everybody will give what they can to the Red Cross for Haiti.. Text Haiti to 90999 and that makes an automatic $10 donation for ya, and I think that's a great way to make it easy for people! I don't have a phone to text with, but I just went to red cross.org.

Okay...I guess I'm done...I'm gonna watch Geraldo!

...short post...

Hey, everybody~! Sorry, I've been noticeably absent from all the blogs lately, not just mine (just so ya know I'm not prejudiced...I'm being a "blog snob" to everybody here)!!

I've been busy reading again, cuz, you know that's the favorite option on days where it's like 16 degrees F outside, and my deck & ramp get shoveled off every time I call the kid across the street that also runs my trash out to the street every week. I haven't asked him to shovel the deck/ramp this week. Bro came over and just out of the blue (Saturday), shoveled all of it, & out to the street, then sat down & asked could he go get anything for me? Wow! He's just a great guy. So he got me milk & candy bars & gum...etc...then my friend from church came over & helped me with a couple loads of laundry, & took my grocery list to WalMart for me, so I'm set...oh, and then her mom came over to get something from her, & she came in & met Truman too...my cat has groupies for God's sake! He's gonna need his own blog & FB page soon, I'm sure...sheeshhh...

Speaking of FB...I've been checking that a little more lately...and I'm really glad I must not've been totally awful to too many people in the past! Cuz between Google & this blog & FB, 4 people have got in touch with me (it's all okay), well, more than 4, but the others were from my high school class reunion, and today I got an email on there, and it was from Kim's first boyfriend, when we were 15 & running around with Kevin1...I'd go to his house & Kim would go in the opposite direction to B's...keep in mind, we walked all over town...we were 14/15! He just said he remembered me from 28 years ago...holy mother of God! He only remembered me because I'm using my high school graduation picture on there...oh, & duh, I use my high school last name too...

So, that's most of what I've been doing, I have lots of books from my ebay certificate, Middle East For Dummies, Bold Fresh, by Bill O'Reilly; Going Rogue by Sarah Palin; Always Looking Up...Adventures of an Incurable Optimist, by Michael J Fox! And that one means a lot to me, a blog friend in Arizona who is as crazy about ghosts & reading & writing as I am...! I've only 'met' one person that reads books the way I do (Christine, I'm talkin' 'bout you!) Read 3 or 4 at a time, just have one in every room you go in, and you'll always have something to read! The other night the scariest "Twilight Zone" was on. It's called 'The Librarian', and it's about a guy who's as addicted to reading as I am, but he works at a bank all the time & has an awful wife, & never has TIME to read. One day a nuclear (I think) bomb went off & wiped out the bank, his wife, his life...but he walked down the street & came upon the public library, which was all collapsed & everything...but there were books ALL OVER....the classics, poems, Shakespeare...he had all kinds of time now, he thought, so he grabbed an armful, & tried to find a place to sit in the rubble. Then he lost his footing, & his great big thick hornrimmed glasses that he was pretty much blind without fell off his face...as he's feeling around for them...he steps on them & they're crushed! I'll probably have nightmares about that tonight!

...brrrrrrrr....

Christmas stuff...
yup, it was fun!
I missed Tiff's first baby shower Sunday, cuz I woke up at 1 am sneezing (good thing Truman didn't get offended by the inadvertant "shower" of "spittle"! However, the explosion in his ear scared the hell out of him...)! I hated to miss it, cuz Bro's family was all going & Kev's mom & everything, but Tif & Talan & everyone else didn't need to catch this! So I sent my present with Kev's mom, & the dr Tif works part-time for is having another baby shower for her this Saturday, so I'm sure I'll be better by then! And I got to get another cute little present for this week...workers at ebay should be thankful for people like me...I help support their daily fun/work! I saw that building complex on a special on CNBC, and it blew me away!
I'm watching the series "Life After People" on the history channel, and next is After Armageddon...nice cheery stuff for a cold, snowy night in with a pizza!!
That's it for tonight...I'm gonna go read middle east for dummies!

New year, new decade, new ??

Okay, friends...spill it...what are everyone's resolutions? I'm sticking with my old standby that I've NEVER broken in 5 years...I resolve to not make a New Year's resolution! Sneaky, huh?
Okay...do I have the most gorgeous daughter in the world, or what? I love these pictures! Especially the one of Tif & Mom up at Lake Erie! And her first baby picture at the hospital. Most of those aren't all that 'flattering'.
December's been a helluva busy month, even for me! Tif started having those "Braxton-Hicks" contractions on my birthday, but she went to the hospital right away, & they were able to stop them. She had to stay overnight, and now she's on bed rest, which sucks, but it's for the best, she knows, since Talan's not due till Feb 4th.
On Christmas morning, Tif & Mr Tif & Kevin came over (well, not morning, per se, but morning for me...about 1 or 2 pm!), and I gave Tif her gift cert for a manicure & pedicure, & gave Mr Tif his Microsoft points, & Tif gave me a Snuggie! Leopard-skin print, of course! I love it! & some perfume! Then Bro picked me up at 5 & took me out to his house, cuz all his kids & his wife & her family were going out there! That was fun! His tree is the most beautiful I've seen...it's a real tree, and its ten feet tall! Usually he gets one with the ball of roots on it, and plants it after Christmas, but they didn't have one this big with roots on it! I got my usual paypal gift certificate...& that's the best for me...cuz ebay takes it, of course! What's really bad is that I had gone to bed at 1am Dec 30th, &, according to my emails yesterday, I had obviously gotten up at 4 am, and spent the last $75 of last Christmas's paypal on ebay & I bought Bill O'Reilly's book, Sarah Palin's book, and a book called "The Middle East for Dummies"...and more stuff for the second baby shower that people are having for Tif! Oh, and a pink Pittsburgh Steelers sweatshirt! How in the HELL did I find something like that?? Some people get up & eat in their sleep...I get up & SHOP!! OMG!! Good thing I still had some leftover paypal $$$! Also, good thing I really wanted everything I ordered! I think I need a lock on my computer overnight...
And, yeah, I've been im'ing & emailing with Kevin1 (from 30 years ago!). We haven't gotten together yet, but we will...it's been a busy month, after all! Some weeks he had to work 12 hours a day, 7 days...but at least he has a job, right? He even mentioned something I'd forgotten...he'd hit his head (hard!) on my bedstand when we saw each other about 20 years ago...and I laughed my ass off at him! He called me a big bully!
I went and got my thyroid checked the 23rd & 24th! I had thought it'd be a needle biopsy, but it wasn't (phewww!). I had to take a capsule of something the first day, I guess it was something radioactive, cuz he gave me a card I had to have with me if I went through an airport security thing for 5 days after I took it! Then I had to go back out the next day and have my thyroid x-rayed! And I haven't heard anything yet, but I'm sure they've been as busy as everyone else!
I get my next tysabri iv Jan 7th. Hope it helps!
Okay...that's been my life at the end of 2009!

more fun work stuff...

Well, it's damn cold today and there's about 3 inches of snow on the ground...which is good, after last year I'dve been just as happy if it didn't snow AT ALL!! Usually, all I want for my birthday is snow...not this year. Ergh...But it must be nice for the kids where they got all the snow!

Up in Fostoria, Christmas was a great time to work...as long as I could get there, with the winter snow & ice! No, truthfully, I think I only had to call off because the roads were too bad once or twice over the two years I worked there. I always heard to call the state highway patrol office to check on road conditions before you went out to drive, so I did. Fat lot of good that did...no matter what it was, whether it was snowing, had snowed the night before, had all been plowed, anything! I still remember, every time I called & wanted to check road conditions on 23N, they told me "snow covered and slippery." One of the first days they told me that, I just thought "but I won't get paid if I stay home...and I HAD told them when I got the job that the one hour drive was fine with me...", so I decided to go, and dropped Tif at her babysitter's, and got out on 23N, and it was perfectly clear & dry with snow blowing across it. So bah, take that! I did have to stop & call the store one time, when I was at the little town/village halfway there. It really was 'snow covered and slippery'. It had taken me an hour already to get halfway to work! I stopped at a pay phone, & called the store to tell them I was in C**** & I'd be there in an hour. The cashier exclamed, "Libby! What in the world are you doing?? You should go home!" And I explained that it was just as close now to come to work, so I'd be there in an hour. Geez...does anybody else remember the days before everybody had a cell phone?

At the store, we went crazy with Christmas decorating....a few of us even wore elf suits & hats all day! What a bunch of dorks we must've looked like! But we were always happy and smiling! Now that I think back, we always said hi & Merry Christmas. And all the customers just nodded & smiled & kept their distances, I think they all thought we were on drugs between Thanksgiving & Christmas! But, whatever, they tolerated us!

The first Christmas, I made Christmas baskets. My first tries were rather 'mundane', out of the pictures in the book from my produce supplier, but as it went along, I got a lot more creative & inventive, and it got to be one of the most fun parts of my job! My friend, Chester, wanted me to make her a big basket for a friend, with dog biscuits, and a couple of bags of carrots, and apples, her friend lived out by her in the country, and had horses and dogs! The baskets started being such a big part of Christmas, I actually had to hire my cousin, Boo, to make them! She only lived about a half hour from the store, so it wasn't a big deal for her to get there.

The second year I was there, I decided to load up some friends in my car one day, and we took off to the town about a half hour away, where our store's main office was, & we burst in there and demanded to go upstairs to find some more decorations for our store...because this was a chain of about 15 stores, so we knew they had some old decorations! They did, and we took all my little Honda Civic would hold (which was less than we had thought, since there were three of us in there). We did find a great big full-size sleigh upstairs, but were told we could NOT take it...the owner of the company was goiing to put it in his front yard! Damn...
