voices outta the past...

I thought this was funny a few years ago when I got it in the mail.....kinda looked like a "WANTED" notice! (not my address anymore)

Lemme just ask a stupid question...if all of a sudden, a bunch of people from your past contacted you in a weekend, would you think, I never thought I'd EVER hear from them again...maybe this is a sign I'm gonna die.......

Thursday I got a call from my very first friend's mom...like I was about 3 or 4...they lived down the street & around the corner. My two big brothers were friends with all 5 of her brothers after we moved to town...yeah...there were 8 kids, and I remember the mom walking past our house every morning about 7 am, headed to mass. I remember my mom saying something about if she had 8 kids, she'd go to church every day too! Now all the 'kids' are scattered all over the world, a few are still in town, one lives out in Scottsdale, so Bro hangs with him & his family when he's out there, some live in Florida, One brother lives in Amsterdam, for heaven's sake! There was always something exciting going on at Chris's house, with all those big brothers & sisters! One time one of the brothers brought home a raccoon, & they named it 'Reefer the raccoon'...us 5 year olds had no clue what that meant...:-/

Friday night I got another email from Kevin 1, from 30 years ago...still haven't hooked up again, but, it'll happen...

Saturday night, I got a FB message from somebody I used to be terrific friends with 27 yrs ago...I remember that cuz she's my first husband's little sister! I im'd my phn number & she called me & we talked for about an hour & a half! She & her husband live in N C now, but they're moving to Wyoming next week! I've missed her!!

Sunday night, I got another FB message from a guy that used to hang out with "our gang" in Fostoria. He was always one of the nicest guys I knew...and that's not a bad thing...nice guys don't always finish last...only if they're passive & timid! One time we were all at a bar about 50 miles from my town, and 'Bart' got so plastered, I wouldn't let him drive home to his house (30 mi away from the bar), so I loaded him in my car with me & brought him home with me (Tif was at Gramma's for the night). When we both woke up Sunday morning, we got in my car & went back up north to the bar we had left his car at...that was some fun times! Now he's married and has 6, count em, 6 kids!!! I couldn't help it, I had to rag him about all the kids...(no sleep, huh?) He said, I was just doing it for fun...and she took it serious!!! No, they're very happy, married for 21 years, etc! He's gonna make Mousie come down here soon, he said.

You know, you have the serendipity bug! I know a few people like you who run into people they know or people they know look them up. I've been living here for decades not far from my old high school and neighborhood-never once ran into someone from my past. Ever. People I used to know look me up once in a decade. That's so cool. Seems like I'm always the one searching for people I used to know. That's cool. I think it just means that you're like the fountain of love that everyone is seeking. You're a people magnet!

Well, here is some of my wackiness coming out.

I think people send out strong auras at times and people in their lives feel them which brings the person to mind. I believe it is totally true of love and I think it is true of friendship too. Those people that got in touch with you just didn't simply disregard it like so many of us do everyday when people pop into our heads.

Wow, that is really strange. I mean, if it makes you happy, that's great. For me, it kinda freaks me out, because most of my teenage friends - we lost touch for a reason - our lives were on completely different paths, and still are! :)

christine...that's neat! i never thought about it that way, but it really makes sense...

GiGi-it was really neat! i can't think of anyone in my past i'd hate to hear from...different lives, etc, it's just neat to hear from people

Libby you're going to hook up? good for you. Is this a booty call you will have with Kevin?

Libby said...

ric--hahaha...he doesnt have that kind of time (or maybe energy!) for a booty call...he lives with his wife & random girlfriends, & he's lead guitar in a band, & works 6 or 7 days a week at a steel mill, so, you know...but...ya never know... ;-D

I know what you mean, a group of friends and family are doing the ms walk on Sunday, 10 of them I haven't seen in 30 years! I was wondering if I was the only one that didn't get the memo?

I wouldn't think about death. I would think of it in terms of sychronicity.

Usually, I'm the one who's contacting people out of my past.

Libby said...

x...it used to be me doing the contacting, but i hafta say it feels damn nice when old friends look you up! i make sure i keep the contact going, except for with married guys that i knew b4 they were married...well, with 1 exception, obviously, & i know his wife doesnt care!

Hello,

Please could you go and visit The Wheel of Fortuna and leave a supportive message for Steve.

His partner BobRobert is in the local hospice and is not expected to live much longer.

It is not so long since his diagnosis which makes it all even more sad.

Thanks for your support.

Love,
Herrad

Funny you should ask that question. I have been connecting with a few friends from high school on FB that I thought I would never see again including an old GF. Of course, I enjoy connecting with my new friends as well. I know, I've been offline for sometime. I am doing my last two classes before graduation and I glad this is over. For now I guess. I am still on the fence about going for the masters. Hope your doing fine and I don't think your gonna die. It's just how things go sometimes.
